The curriculum in the Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security focuses on security basics, computer architectures, networking protocols and operating systems. As a graduate, you will have the abilities to analyze and educate members of an organization on the importance and responsibility of securing their systems. The program will prepare you for standard industry certifications in Network+, Security+ and CISSP.
Note: University of the Virgin Islands online cannot guarantee successful completion of those exams. Field experience and/or background checks may be necessary for eligibility to take or successfully pass the exam.
UVI offers a B.S. in Computer Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity.
This concentration offers students the ability to learn relevant issues, technologies, and principles related to the field of cybersecurity and digital forensics. The concentration will prepare students to enter the high demand field of cybersecurity and digital forensics.The requirements to complete the Concentration in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics include all of the requirements for the B.S. Computer Science major. In addition to the requirements for the B.S. Computer Science major, students must complete the following 15 credits with an average grade of C or higher in each of the following courses:
- Introduction to Cybersecurity (3 cr)
- Introduction to Digital Forensics (3 cr)
- Computer Forensics (3 cr)
- Network Forensics (3 cr)
- Selected Topics in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics (3 cr)
