Gaining Cybersecurity Experiences in High School
High school students considering a college education and show interest in the cybersecurity field, may want to consider taking part in the Consortium Enabling Cybersecurity Opportunities & Research (CECOR) program at the University of the Virgin Islands. The CECOR program at UVI provides countless programs to help high schoolers in the Virgin Islands. These programs will teach students about cybersecurity, help them gain experience for potential summer internships and research opportunities, as well as enhance personal college applications.

Facts about Cybersecurity
Cyber security is the action of guarding technology from major cyber threats, such as cyber terrorism, cyber warfare, and cyber espionage. A cybersecurity specialist main focus is to identify potential security breaches within a system and to create shields to defend against such attacks. High schoolers can work along side cybersecurity specialist during the summer at UVI or at a partnering national lab. The UVI CECOR program, wants students to have the experience of a cybersecurity specialist while still in school. These opportunities will help students become more experienced in what they feel passionate about and increase their chances of attending college to pursue their dream job.
